Dear reader, Last week (14-17 July) the annual FOSS4G Europe 2015 took place in Como. GeoSolutions was present, giving one workshop about GeoServer (if you are interested, you can learn more about it at this link), and two presentations, led by our director Simone Giannecchini and our technical lead Andrea Aime. Who’s scared of advanced GeoServer workshops?

Apparently, the FOSS4G Europe attendees are not scared of advanced GeoServer workshops. Tuesday 15th of July, GeoSolutions gave a workshop called "GeoServer on steroids: getting the best out of GeoServer" at FOSS4G Europe, in Como (Italy). We managed to attract more than 60 attendees, so much that it had to be run by two separate teachers, our tech leads Andrea Aime and Mauro Bartolomeoli, in two different computer labs. In our view, this is a sign of maturity of the FOSS4G conferences, which over the years collected a number of returning attendees, people that went past the basics and crave for some more advanced training....

Developer’s Corner: Customizable arrow in GeoServer

Dear Reader, Today we want to share a recent development in  GeoServer: an arrow mark whose proportions can be customized to get the type of arrow you're looking for. The general syntax for this arrow mark is the following: <WellKnownName>extshape://arrow?hr=[hrValue]&t=[tValue]&ab=[abValue]</WellKnownName> All parameters are ratios, and they are all optional. By default the arrow is the usual 1 by 1 mark, whose actual size you can control in SLD via the Mark size attribute.
